Lou Donaldson started out as a Bebop Alto Saxman. But the mid 60s were a special time for Jazz and the electrification of instruments shifted the styles and genres into different dimensions. Soul-Jazz, Rare Groove and Jazz -Funk started to emerge and Lou became one of the pioneers in this zone. His record Alligator Boogaloo came out in 1967 and featured non other than George Benson on Guitar and Dr Lonnie Smith on organ. Can you see the Alligator in there ? :-D
